Mission
Therapy Abroad creates an interactive educational environment for students and professionals to learn and enhance core competencies in their field, and gain valuable clinical hours while enjoying the richness and challenges of service learning and traveling abroad.
Model
Therapy Abroad was born of the idea that “study abroad” and “service learning” can and should have a lasting and sustainable impact on people and communities. We believe in the power of community-based research and purposeful, sustainable partnerships. Traditional models of study abroad often set students and professionals up for the inevitable traps that have become synonymous with much of the industry, including host-country dependence, lack of a sustainable growth strategy, and culturally insensitive interventions. Our approach strives to develop collaboration and equality between partners in the countries we work in and the students, universities, and professionals we serve.
WHY CHOOSE THERAPY ABROAD?
Therapy Abroad is unique! No other program offers group travel and study abroad with structured, professional experiences designed exclusively for those interested in fields such as speech-language pathology, audiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, and other such service-oriented fields.
IF YOU ARE A STUDENT
Students at any skill level, whether a first-year undergrad, senior, post bacc, or graduate student, you will be able to actively participate and gain valuable hands-on learning experience. Whether you have traveled extensively or if this is your first time going abroad, we will make sure that every step of the way is organized, safe and professional. If you choose one of our programs, you will receive 24/7 support from our staff and team leaders. We don’t outsource and we don’t cut corners. We take a hands-on proactive approach to making sure that this experience meets the goals of our mission statement. Participation in a Therapy Abroad program provides a foundation for you to gain the experience needed to be a more competitive graduate school applicant, a more confident graduate student, and to travel and work overseas in the future. Programs will be built from the ground up and will be driven by your goals, values, and learning outcomes. Our programs foster creativity, team building, international exchange, cultural awareness, service, and professional competencies.
